2014 Darrell Awards Finalists Announced

The 2014 Darrell Awards Jury met earlier tonight & choose the following nominated works as Finalists in their respective categories.

Best Midsouth SF/F Novel

Someday The Stars by John E. Siers
The Moon and Beyond by John E. Siers
The Skies Roared by Steve Bradshaw

Best Midsouth SF/F Young Adult Work
Omni by Andrea Murray
Sela by Jackie Gamber
Vanished by Christina L. Holt

Best Midsouth SF/F Short Story
Angels in Gas Stations by Victor Lorthos (as seen in Zombie Strippers)
Eclipse Over Elmwood by H. David Blalock (as seen in Southern Haunts)
The Bone Garden by Robert J. Krog (as seen in Ten Reasons To Cross The Moat)
The Clockwork Gunslingers by Robert J. Krog (as seen in Dreams of Steam 4: Gizmos)
The Finder’s Keeper by Jason Cordova (as seen in Dreams of Steam 4: Gizmos).

If we are able to contact them, each of the Finalists will be invited to attend MidSouthCon on Saturday March 22, 2014, as our free guest & to receive a free Banquet ticket so they may attend the Banquet at which the 2014 Darrell Awards will be presented.

The Darrell Awards are presented annually in support of Midsouth Literacy by recognizing the best published Science Fiction, Fantasy and/or Horror in Short Story, Novella, Novel, Young Adult and Other Media formats. Our related Dal Coger Memorial Hall of Fame Award is given for an author who has made exceptional contributions to Midsouth Literacy by having published a substantial body of work that is or would have been eligible for the Darrell Award. The Darrell Awards and the Coger Hall of Fame award are presented at MidSouthCon, held in March of each year in the Memphis, Tennessee area.
